CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon public high schools
will receive a Student Edition of brass|MAGAZINE arriving in November
2008. As part of the brass|STUDENT PROGRAM, all public high schools
in the state will receive free classroom sets of the magazine
starting with the February 2009 issue. Recognized by other states
as an outstanding financial education program, this program is
supported by financial institutions around the state and developed
by brass|MEDIA Inc.
brass|MAGAZINE
is the brainchild of a young entrepreneur, Bryan Sims, who came
up with the idea in his high school business class. brass|MAGAZINE
features articles written for young adults, by young adults, and
uses an edgy, conversational style to cover subjects from how
to go to prom on a budget to how to save money for retirement.
High school students are welcomed as contributors.
Now
25, Sims is passionate about helping young adults around the nation
understand the money side of life. “If ever there was a
time when young adults needed to know what is going on around
them, it is right now. We are a socially driven company with the
goal of helping young adults understand how money and life interact.”
Along with copies of the magazine, teachers have the ability to
access accompanying resources and lesson plans tied to state standards
through the brass|TEACHER RESOURCE CENTER. There is also a blog,
forum, and exclusive bonus content. The Teacher Resource Center
can be accessed at teachers.brassmagazine.com. After registering
on the website, educators can elect to become the primary contact
for their school ensuring that students have access to important
personal finance information while becoming the first to know
about brass|STUDENT PROGRAM events and opportunities.
